Tahquitz & Suicide Rocks conditions

February 24, 2026

The recent winter storm has left a good amount of snow across the San Jacinto mountains- the areas surrounding Tahquitz & Suicide had up to 1’ of snow, and coverage is fairly uniform. Currently, the south, west and north faces of Tahquitz Rock have patchy snow, and with the warm weather, there is quite a bit of meltwater. Snow will be encountered on most of of the approach trails, and along the base of the rock. Humber Park access is blocked with road signs at Forest Drive, and gated just above the Ernie Maxwell trailhead, with solid snow cover on the road above that point.

Suicide Rock also has patchy snow across the face- the north face in particular is likely to be holding more. Conditions are wet as the snow melts, and the trail is uniformly covered in snow.

South Ridge road is gated at the entrance, with solid snow above this point. The town was absolutely overrun with snowplay tourists last weekend, greatly irritating the locals, with roads blocked by vehicles, and chaos in the town. If you do decide to explore, be prepared for weekend mayhem….
