The San Jacinto Mountains introduced me to the outdoors, including trad climbing. They have remained personally meaningful ever since. My first gear lead and first overnight backpacking trip happened in these mountains. Giving back through stewardship feels like the least I can do for a place that has shaped me. After seven years of living in Idyllwild, I am still inspired by the geography and ecology of this area, all of which are fragile.

My formative years of climbing were here at Tahquitz & Suicide, where the values of developing well-rounded climbing skills were instilled. As a resident of Idyllwild for over 30 years, I feel strongly about the history and legacy of climbing in this area, and have worked to protect it for many years through service projects both with the ICA, and independently.
